1. If Ben Franklin were in charge, I don't think we'd be eating turkey on Thanksgiving since it would have represented our national bird. 2. In Princeton, NJ, George Washington celebrated July 4, 1778, with a double ration of rum for his soldiers and an artillery salute. 8.
